It's ready. The album is ready. "Northern Soul 2008" is ready. This is the absolute first time premiere of the trailer for "Northern Soul 2008", which I am exclusively unveiling here on YouTube, the all new exciting trailer for the next forthcoming album, "Northern Soul 2008", which will be released on June 30th, 2008. Northern Soul has endured for forty years now, but the sound was in danger of becoming mired in pure nostalgia and becoming stale and repetitive So to recapture that freshness, Centre City Records was launched in 2007 (along with launching this Youtube channel which by now has achieved a stunning 2,500,000 views!). Last September, "Northern Soul 2007" was the first album to be released. The album opened ears, inspired jaded palettes and brought a whole new crowd to the sound, people that were not even born when the first and even second wave hit the shores. And now, nearly a year later, comes this sequel album, which amazingly has grown up and out from the first step, into a whole new level of excellence. The two albums complement each other perfectly, like a pair of gloves, or like Yin and Yang. Using a combination of seasoned professionals like The Flirtations, Jimmy Thomas and Jimmy James and The Vagabonds, and adding in new and exciting vocal talents like Tahira Jumah, Winston Ward, Jennifer Dee, Verna Francis, Fay Jones, Angelo Starr and Pamela Ivonne Cole, these albums and DVDs have created future classic and secret underground sounds for a scene that keeps its cards closely to its chest, and holds its secrets until they are ready to let them go. Northern Soul 2008 is everything northern soul is was and should be - accessible, yet mysterious and unexplainable with its own set of strange laws and contradictory rules. Here it is for your delight, with 24 brand new, exciting tracks, and once again - as has become Centre City's trademark - with a free DVD (with 4 bonus tracks!) where you can watch all the artists performing these wonderful songs. Enjoy the ride. It is true to say that I have tried many times in my life to capture that quintessence of what makes a Northern Soul record actually work on the dancefloor, and with records like Sidney Barnes "Standing On Solid Ground" and Chuck Jackson "All Over The World", I certainly hit a popular chord. But this time I have never been more artistically satisfied. The new album, "Northern Soul 2008" will be released on June 30th on Centre City Records, distributed once again by Passion Music and Pinnacle, and available to pre-order through the new website, http://www.ianlevine.co.uk Each song has an accompanying video of the artist performing it, and the DVD has four extra bonus tracks too. The work that we have all put into this project is quite staggering, and I hope it will break down the barriers between the older Northern Soul stalwarts and a new generation who need younger acts who still produce the same vibe we all witnessed forty years ago for Motown's glory years. Play the CD, watch the DVD, and give new Northern Soul a chance this time. This album, "Northern Soul 2008" will be released on June 30th on Centre City Records, available through the new website, http://www.ianlevine.co.uk - and I hope you will all consider supporting it.

I predict that this is the video that is going to become my biggest ever hit on YouTube, and that's no mean feat after chalking up two and a half million views of my videos so far. But I think this is the best video we have ever made and I am so proud of it. It makes the perfect showpiece for the new album, "Northern Soul 2008", and is this album's one and only slice of blue-eyed soul, on this gorgeous late-60s-London sounding stomper with a young, exciting new talent, seventeen year old Holly Harrison in front of the mike. This fabulous track, with its overtones of Petula Clark's "Downtown" (although quite different as a song) was originally cut for Venicia Wilson, who rescheduled six times before it became obvious that her problems meant she was not going to be doing a new track in the immediate future. Venicia (real name Kate Jackson) was the former girlfriend of Steve Brookstein, and it was he who recommended Holly for the track as being just the right look and voice for something Venicia Wilson would have recorded. Holly not only sounded the part, but turned up to film in a Sixties mini-dress and bobbed Mary Quant style hairdo, looking like she arrived to film "Ready Steady Go" in 1965, complete with two inch eyelashes! This could be Centre City's most popular video of all time. Holly's manager, Alan Sheppard, has been a miracle worker, and delivered to us the consummate artist, who could knock Duffy and Amy straight off their perch. This is the absolute first time premiere of another track which I am exclusively unveiling here on YouTube, from the next forthcoming album, "Northern Soul 2008", which will be released on June 30th, 2008. Holly Harrison sings "Bright Lights Of The City". Everything about this wonderful new song suggests the magic and energy of the era that I fell in love with as a teenager. Forget the purists - this one has it all. If you can keep your feet still while listening to this, then you must be a country and western fan or something. Holly Harrison, along with The Concentrations, Jennifer Dee, Verna Francis, Tahira Jumah, Fay Jones, Shenton Dixon and Winston Ward, represents the new generation of Centre City artists. The new album, "Northern Soul 2008" will be released on June 30th on Centre City Records, distributed once again by Passion Music and Pinnacle, and available to pre-order through the new website, http://www.ianlevine.co.uk This new current upcoming Northern Soul album is a sequel to our album from last year, "Northern Soul 2007" which was the very first release on Centre City Records. I have spent thirty two years honing my craft to the point when I am able to produce authentic records like this. There are some small minded people who call themselves fans of Northern Soul who refuse to accept that anybody can make a new record that sounds like the real thing. But with well over two million YouTube hits, they seem to be thankfully a very small minority, and my YouTube page is officially the 54th most watched UK Music Channel on YouTube of ALL-TIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The new album will consist of twenty four brand new 2008 songs by soul and disco legends. Each song has an accompanying video of the artist basically performing it the studio and in outside locations, and the DVD will have four extra bonus tracks too. Holly and I co-wrote this wonderful song, "Bright Lights Of The City", which sounds like a classic 1960s Dusty Springfield masterpiece.

Another brand new recording that I've fallen madly deeply passionately in love with. Since we wrote this song, I must have played it a thousand times. Tahira Jumah brought Shenton to meet me at the launch party of our last album, "Yesterday And Tomorrow" and suggested he cut a track for "Northern Soul 2008". To say that I was blown away was an understatement. To my ears, Shenton sounds EXACTLY like Eddie Levert, lead singer of the legendary soul group The O-Jays, and with just a hint of Levi Stubbs thrown in. I am elated that in 2008 we can find singers of this calibre to sing brand new Northern Soul creations. Just amazing. This is the absolute first time premiere of yet another track which I am exclusively unveiling here on YouTube, from the next forthcoming album, "Northern Soul 2008", which will be released on June 30th, 2008. Shenton Dixon sings "I'll Move A Mountain", and my goodness, he most certainly does. It is true to say that I have tried many times in my life to capture that quintessence of what makes a Northern Soul record actually work on the dancefloor, and with records like Sidney Barnes "Standing On Solid Ground" and Chuck Jackson "All Over The World", I certainly hit a popular chord. Forget the purists - this one has it all. If you can keep your feet still while listening to this, then you must be a country and western fan or something. Shenton Dixon, along with Winston Ward, Marvin Cotterell, and my new male soul group, The Concentrations, represents the new generation of Centre City artists. Thanks to the wonderful Tahira Jumah, who has been scouring England for the best soul talent there is, our new album is a vocal masterpiece, a new hope for the future, and a proof positive that great soul music is far far far from dead and buried. Thankyou my wonderful wonderful Tahira. You have done me proud. The best A&R talent scout there ever was. Oh how utterly wonderful this is. It lifts my soul and makes my spirits soar. Angelo Starr
Oh how utterly wonderful this is. It lifts my soul and makes my spirits soar. Angelo Starr said that this track is the closest we have ever come to real authentic mid sixties Detroit. Donna Williams took the melody and played with it like a temptress, seductively coaxing sultriness out of every note. WOW !!! This is the absolute first time premiere of yet another track which I am exclusively unveiling here on YouTube, from the next forthcoming album, "Northern Soul 2008", which will be released on June 30th, 2008. Thankyou my wonderful wonderful Tahira. You have done me proud. The best A&R talent scout there ever was. This is Donna's third release with us. She was brought to me by Leee John, lead singer of Imagination, who recommended her for our "Disco 2008" album, for which she sang "Let Me Be A Sinner". Then on our recent "Yesterday And Tomorrow",album, she did the most stunning job reinventing Miquel Brown's classic "So Many Men So Little Time". But up till now, we never dreamed she could be as stunning as this, and this one is going to be a hard act to beat. Donna and I co-wrote this wonderful song, "Landed On My Feet", which sounds like a classic 1967 Detroit Pied Piper production, of the type that made a whole generation fall in love with Northern Soul.
