This is a 70's re-release of the original 1965 45 single remixed to bring Jimi's guitar forward. I'm looking for a copy of the original mix and will put it up here when I get it.

"By 1964, however, the Isleys had yet to follow up with another hit, having modest success with the similar "Twistin' With Linda". After their original version of "Who's That Lady" failed to generate buzz, the group decided to form their own label, which they called T-Neck Records. Within a year, the Isleys cut their first independent singles in the label, two of which ("Testify" and "Move On Over & Let Me Dance") featured a Seattle guitarist going by the name of Jimmy James. James was also the leading guitarist in the brothers' touring band. After leaving, he changed his name back to Jimi Hendrix and became a sensation soon afterwards."

Exuma (Tony McKay) 1942-1977, born Cat Island (Bahamas) died in Nassau, Bahamas.
Exuma was known for his almost unclassifiable music.. a mixture of carnival, junkanoo, calypso and ballad. In his early days in New York's Greenwich Village, Tony McKay (his self given name)performed in small clubs and bars. Tony launched EXUMA - a 7-person group that toured and recorded albums, starting with Exuma: The Obeah Man in 1970, ending with Rude Boy in 1986. His songs envoke influences from calypso, junkanoo, reggae, African and folk music with his lyrics dealing heavily with OBEAH {VODUN}. His backing band was known as the Junk Band.
Over the years Exuma has played and/or toured with Patti LaBelle, Curtis Mayfield, Rita Marley, Peter Tosh, Toots and the Maytals, Sly and the Family Stone, Steppenwolf, Black Flag and the Neville Brothers. In 1978 Exuma was awarded the British Empire Medal by Queen Elizabeth II for his contributions to Bahamian culture.

There are also certain lwa who are mute, who never speak under any circumstances. One such lwa, in the Rada group, is Dambala. Dambala is a serpent, and as such he does not speak. A person possessed by Dambala immediately falls to the ground and crawls, like a snake. The possessed person may climb trees, or the centerpost of the peristyle, without using their hands, because a snake does not have hands. Like a snake, too, Dambala will eat a raw egg, and sip milk.

An amazing and under-appreciated recording from the Ram era (also 'B' side of the Another Day 45), it features one of Paul's fiercest vocal tracks - buried in the mix 10 years before Mitch Easter buried Michael Stipe's vocals -, and has a lo-fi feel 20 years before Guided By Voices made basement recording cool. This track sends chills up my spine every time. Paul rocking his ass off!
