I agree that there is more prefrable things to spend our money on but with regards to our defence expendature at this time and until man figures a way to live peacefully with the world and while there is a threat from other nucluer powers then we need these weapons to deter the likes of the Soviets from as you put it crushing us. if we was to be attacked by the Russians or some other nucluer power I would always prefare to have the ability to answer there attack with a bit more than harsh language. Infantry can only do so much even if you are the best trained in the world.

I would rather spend £75Bil on hospitals,police etc for every city ,not just London...we are a tiny island,Russia/China could destroy us,our nukes are not worth the dosh...Hospitals,Schools,Polic

We face trouble with terrorists and also trouble looming from a old enemy The soviet union once again they are flexing there muscles whilst these threats are present or on the horizon i believe it is aswell to be prepared. Much of our subs are quite out of date and in need of replacing

I must disagree with your opinion of Reagan,the man did what he was told.The cold war is over,yet the weapons race continues.We are at war with a guerrilla outfit,still we are spending £75BILLION on Trident nuclear submarines which are of no use in this particular struggle.

I can not be called a conservative and nolonger can i be called a socialist. I take what i believe is right from both partys on some issues i`m left leaning and others i`m right leaning.
I do see that not all Maggie did was bad but i just couldnt get her distain for the very people whos lives she ruined out of my head and perhaps never will. In contrast though i liked the American counterpart presedent Reagan History has told he wasn`t as dumb as the media often portrayed him |

I couldn`t stand her for what she did to industry and its workers.
Once when she visited our barracks in Northern Ireland just after one of our soldiers got killed by a proxy bomb i got to serve her on the top table in the officers mess. And despite my great ability to silver server i accidently spilt French onion soup down her front. She was not please to say the least:) She step down a short time later |
