Firstly downlaod bittorent

Next go to http://animesuki.com/

There youll see a whole bunch of anime. They only have unliscenced anime though. So if your anime is not there try searching google for your anime torrents.

After you have downloaded your anime w/ bittorent you can go to windows movie maker. If you have a mac then try downloading a different video editing software at downlaod.com

If you do have windows movie maker than use it. True it may freeze but its good to try for the first time. Ok then go to file>ipor to collections and find your anime that you have downloaded. then when its imported you will see clips already made for you. And there you would make you amv.
