What I meant by "THIS IS COOL":
This WAS "cool" because I knew that the firefighters had it under control before it started, but NOT... "cool" because I wanted to see it get out of control. The vegitation on the hill was cut from the middle of the hill down and firefighters were covering all sides of the hill just in case something happened. I was a firefighter myself before I became a full time film maker, so I understood the procedure. Anyone leaving me hateful comments about saying "This is cool!" is just prejudgement and too ignorant to read this description... and THAT is NOT cool. Stay positive, because this video wasn't suppose to be any other way.
This was just MY experience on 4th of July and NO ONE was hurt.
WHAT HAPPENED?
During a city fireworks display on top of a hill that we call "Tarantula Hill", a firework shell misfired and landed in some near by vegetation. Luckily, the firefighters were prepared and the fire was quickly put out. Since I'm always armed with a camera, I had to share the moment while it lasted, but unfortunately I didn't capture the flash. I shot this video from the roof of my home.
In times like this, I sure miss being a firefighter! MeMoRiEs...

This video is yet another parody of my real life. Since I was a kid, I was always able to pick up a game and master it faster than normal, but having a gamer's ego has it's downsides. I tend to remember my loses more than my wins and every now and then it has an effect on my skills. So after entering my first professional gaming tournament, I decided to push myself harder in training to overcome my ego. With only 3 days to learn DOA4, my training technique was ridiculous. After losing my first match to the best DOA4 gamer in the world, I learned a very important lesson. You can't always beat the master in the first match. Being a champion takes time.

UPDATE 7/3/08 - I'm still bruised pretty bad. The X-ray showed a fracture in my lower left hand, but I'm feeling a lot better. The only thing that hurts at the moment is my pocket book because being a viral film maker doesn't come with medical insurance. That's the main reason for why I was sad in this video. I'm just taking it easy for a week or so.

WHAT DOES THIS VIDEO MEAN?
Lately, I have been letting go of old things to bring new ones in. My cameras, my clothes, my 13 year old wallet, my phone, my marital status (from single to engaged), my sources of income, and even my car are just a few of the things in my life that have changed. I can't stop time, but I can't let it stop me.
ABOUT THE CAMERA'S:
3 cameras were used to capture all these angles with the help of Stephanie (my fiance). The cameras used were all Canons. The ZR500 (which I really broke), the XH-A1 (from the top), and the Vixia HV30 (from down hill on a tripod). The spinning shot you see in the video is in fact real and believe it or not, the camera survived the fall... but only for a short time. The blurry footage you see at the end was the camera's last working shot where I picked it up from the ground. It died right where this video ended. Now, the camera only works in playback mode, which is how I was able to recover the footage. RIP ZR500 : )
WHY DIDN'T I DONATE IT?
Because it was an old beat up camera, worth less than $100 at some stores BRAND NEW. So if some one doesn't want to work to earn $100 for a new camera, then they probably didn't need it in the first place. I bought my first camera by taking up a side job, chopping wood on a river ranch for an old guy with health problems. It was a hard job with low pay, but that's how I earned the money. You appreciate things more when you work for them.
The camera really is special to me and I knew I'd never use it again, so I had to do something extra special with it. Hopefully this video inspires others to better their own videos, that way this camera's sacrifice for art could be a part of the cause for that inspiration. You'll see it on my memoribilia shelf in the dining room in one of my upcoming videos.

FIRST OFF... what did my fiance say about this?
She was totally OK with me going because she knows how much I love her... Really, who doesn't know how much I love Steph by now?!?! LOL
MY EXPERIENCE AT THE PARTY:
It all took place in the Paramount Studios lot on a movie set which looked like Burbon St (Mardi gras). There were so many celebrities there that everywhere I turned I was like.. "Hey, it's... oh and there's... wow, it's....". I kept it cool though and started talking to all the people.
One of the first people I talked to was Tila Tequila. Girl stood about 4' 10" and was actually really hot! I had a drink with her and just talked about new media stuff and she was totally cool. She's a smart one : )
Then I jumped over and started talking with Masi Oka, who plays Hiro Nakamura in the show Heroes. I was a huge fan of the show, so I couldn't resist saying hello. He was standing by himself by a heat lamp just looking around. I came up and introduced myself and he introduced himself as well. I talked about the party a bit and he just smiled and laughed a bit. He talked very little though. I got the feeling he was just one of those guys that likes to just be there. I spent about 3 minutes and moved on. Great guy though : )

The Pussy Cat Dolls where fun to be around! There was a lot in the video that you didn't see, but the were totally rad!
I spoke to numerous other people, but these were the few that really stuck out for me... but none more than the next guy....
Steve-O. I've met Steve-O before while he was on tour and he was the one who inspired me to be who I am today. But as many of you know, he has been going through some really rough times with drugs and alcohol. What was great about seeing him was that he was TOTALLY SOBER and looked fantastic! Steve-O and I hung out for a while at the party and just talked about life. He's doing much better now and I told him that I would do what ever it takes to help him find his way back to being Stephen Glover again (himself minus the drugs). We exchanged phone numbers and went on our way. The best part about seeing him again was the fact that I finally got to say "Thank you". Steve-O if you're reading this... remember, entertain yourself before you entertain others. You are Steve-O, your own biggest fan. : )
All in all... this was an AMAZING night and I owe it all to igotshotgun.com and Pontiac! Yes, they sponsored me to go and I am freakin PROUD to represent : )

TITLE CHANGE:
"Naked Mountain Tan" made people think this video was something that it wasn't and I don't want people to NOT watch this just because it says "naked" in the title. This is a clean video, so I just cleaned up the title.
THE PARODY:
Lately, two things have been hurting... My heart and my pocket book. My heart because my blood pressure was insanely high and to the point where the doctor almost put me on meds. So I've been doing my best to stay fit, which is why I've been climbing high places so much lately. My pocket book hurts because Uncle Sam took a good chunk out of me (taxes). I'm not pinching dimes or anything, I'm doing just fine... I just has to express my frustration. As for naked tanning... While searching for places to mountain climb, I came across the "red naked man" and thought it would be fun to make a story from it. So there ya go : )
BEHIND THE SCENES:
I was alone when I made this video, so I had to take all of my equipment up the hill by myself. It was one hell of a work out, but I needed it. The new camera (Canon XH-A1) is working great! I just need to practice a little bit more to get the shots that I want. I've been shooting everything on manual settings without a monitor, so it'll take a few more videos until I get it all down. My biggest problem was that I only had about 25 minutes on the tape and I forgot to grab another one before I left the house. I would have liked to get a few extra shots in, but I'm not sweating it.
WEIRD ERRORS IN THE VIDEO:
Just as I start coming off of the hill to tan, the picture is suppose to go all black until the epic "eye opener" shot, but for some reason the shot goes back to the first cliff. Also, the audio seems to jump around just before the part where I say "don't fall, don't fall". The strange thing is, these errors don't happen in the raw video... So was it a YouTube glitch? I uploaded the same video to Vimeo in high definition and no errors there. Please YouTube, I love you but you've got to do something about these things. New players? Better processing? I don't know, just something better.
